Orange Oil

TERMITE REMOVAL METHOD IN LOS ANGELES, CA

When citrus fruits are juiced, the oil is pressed out of the rind. The oil is called orange oil where D-Limonene is the major component, and is used in a variety of products from household cleaners to pet flea tick shampoos. Orange oil injected into termite galleries kills termites and their eggs on contact.

Drywood termites can also die when they eat wood recently treated . The high citric acid in orange oil will melt the exoskeletons and eggs of termites and when they eat recently treated wood their stomachs will melt as well.

Although orange oil will biodegrade in 4 days, it wicks in all directions in wood through its porous cells thereby eradicating termites in an infested wood member of a house of structure. It is registered in California to control/kill drywood termites. And finally, with thorough inspection of the property, the diligence of the technician and the cooperation of the homeowner/occupant, the control of drywood termites is ensured.

Orange oil is 100% natural, but if improperly transported, handled and applied, it may still injure humans, pets and plants, so choose a fully licensed, insured and trained professionals to do it.

The use of orange oil is considered by the California Structural Pest Control Board as local treatment, as such State Law requires any termite company in its report to state that "local treatment is not intended to be an entire structure treatment method, so if infestations of wood destroying pests extend or exist beyond the area(s) of local treatment, they may not be exterminated." However with the experience and with the aid of specialized instrument a reputable termite company may give guarantees beyond that of local treatment.

Occupants, humans, pets and plants, need not vacate a house, property or apartment/condo during termite treatments using Orange Oil.

Borates

A natural salt named Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate (DOT) is a borate used/ applied against termites. Death Valley and other California localities are where notable deposits of borates are in U.S. West Coast. Safely used for centuries, boric acid and borax can be found in: pharmaceutical products, glass, fiberglass, cleaning products, paints, cleaners, lubricants, eye treatment, cotton and cellulose products, and many other products.

Borates (DOT) will not break down through time in wood thereby providing long lasting protection and residual performance against drywood termites and other insects. Insects are killed in contact with borates (DOT) or ingesting borate (DOT) treated wood. Since borates (DOT) are slow acting, drywood termites may feed on, tunnel in and/or ingest treated wood, accumulate the borate (w/c they cannot digest) and still moving among other individuals in the colony. During the transfer of food from workers to nymphs, soldiers and reproductives, the termites will transfer the ingested borates between one another, resulting in depopulation or eradication of the colony. Bora Care, a borate, is proven effective and registered to control: drywood, subterranean and Formosan termites, wood boring beetles, carpenter ants, fungi (wood rot), and algae.

During treatments using borates (DOT), occupants, apartment tenants, pcts, and plants need

Non-Repellent Termiticides

For "non repellents" we are now using "Altriset" for our termite treatments against both drywood and subterranean termites. almost all other popular termiticides being used around southern california are categorized as either "WARNING", "CAUTION", or "DANGER" as their signal words. Altriset is not classified as neonicotinoid chemical which EPA suspects as one of the primary causes of bee colony collapse when bees are exposed to these group of pesticide/termiticide.

Hundreds of laboratory and field studies conducted by independent scientists have proven that Altriset is an exceptional termiticide.

  • These studies show that termites acquire a debilitating dose of Altriset when they tunnel through a treated zone around your home.
  • They also demonstrate that Altriset increases termites' socializing and grooming behavior. This means they spread Altriset to other termite colony members - and each group of exposed termites continues this process, eventually impacting the entire termite colony.

Non-repellent insecticides or termiticides, in contrast to the older repellent ones, are the newer breed of pesticides that kill termites at low dosage rate under the climatic conditions of California. These non-repellents are less toxic to humans and other mammals but highly toxic to insects. The highly social characteristics of termites, they feed and groom each other, make them quite vulnerable to these non-repellents. Colorless and odorless at low dosage rates, termites cannot detect the effect until 24 to 48 hours after treatment and/or contact; thereby maximizing the transfer of these non-repellents and therefore ensuring the depopulation or eradication of termite colony.

Non-repellents are highly proven to be effective against drywood and subterranean termites for long periods of time. Tenants, human occupants, pets and plants may stay in the house, apartment or condo during termite treatments using these non-repellents.
